Sole Bidder for 4G Spectrum: Jazz

Jazz (a VEON subsidiary previously known as Mobilink that was merged with Warid Telecom) maintains the lead in the growing mobile market in Pakistan, with the only one bidding for the recently announced bid for 4G auction.

In the 4G spectrum (10MHz paired slot in 1800 MHz) on sale, Jazz appeared to be the sole bidder, where they will be awarded the spectrum at a minimum set price of $295 million without any competitive bidding from the local telecom market.

Jazz Director Communication Anjum Rahman, while speaking to press said:

“Bidding makes logical sense for the company. The world is moving towards digitization and we want to make sure we are in the right place when this wave comes to Pakistan”

The company already had 2G, 3G and LTE spectrum in place, while its customer base increased recently after a merger with Warid. At present, the two telecoms are still in the phase of integration.
