The Federal Minister of Science and Technology has announced that his ministry would start a unique initiative for video game enthusiasts.
In a tweet on Tuesday, the minister described the impending programme as a “game-changer” that will help Pakistan to break into the $90 billion gaming sector.
“Be prepared: the Ministry of Science and Technology is bringing a special programme of video games programming so that we can become a part of this $90 billion industry if you don’t like reading and prefer to play video games on your phone.”
He tweeted, “Animation and video game certification programmes will not only be a game for young people, but a game-changer.”
Last month, Fawad said the government is getting ready to launch Pakistan’s first ever over-the-top (OTT) TV, which will be similar to Netflix, and it was recently learned that Emax Media, the internationally acclaimed digital network, has entered the on-demand streaming segment with the launch of UrduFlix, Pakistan’s first Urdu OTT platform, which will offer original and exclusive Urdu content.
Original Urdu films, series, documentaries, cartoons, and Urdu dubbed Turkish plays will be available on UrduFlix. Emax Media is the first independent network in Pakistan to offer a dedicated Urdu OTT platform, with a wide range of new-age content ranging from original to previously popular dramas and films.
