Team Auj: All Girls Team from NUST to Represent Pakistan @ Formula Student ’18



Formula Student is Europe’s most established educational engineering competition backed by high profile engineers and industries in the world. The competition aims to develop innovative and enterprising young engineers from around the world and encourage more people to start a career in engineering.

Girls in Pakistan are subjected to many stereotypes; one of those is that they cannot drive. But these days it has become all about breaking stereotypes and showing the world that they can achieve whatever they set their mind to it.

One such example is of the all girls NUST team that has qualified for a spot at the International Student Formula Competition that is being held in the UK this July. Team Auj consists of 15 talented girls that are to represent Pakistan in the competition by creating their own Formula car with the number 199 from scratch with an aim to reach 0-100 in 4.5 seconds with 90 horsepower competing besides 30 teams from around the world.

The team consists of girls from various disciplines of NUST such as industrial designing, electrical engineering, business management etc. Furthermore, the race car driver is also a girl who will be racing against men at the Formula Student.

The heart and soul of the team include Azka Athar as the Team lead, Fatima Sohail Director Team Management, Minahil Malik Marketing Manager, Wardah Jamal Marketing Manager, Hira Ejaz Head of Animations, Laiba Rodyna Marketing Manager, Sabah Zaman Executive Technical Team, Aartrah Rauf Shaikh Executive Technical Team, Hanadi Hayat Director Graphics, and Hareem Akhtar Executive Technical Team.
