KP Government Announces Fellowship Program 2020

The code of Pakistan is the non-profit building a non-partisan civic innovation ecosystem that can improve the quality of life in Pakistan.

When digital technology is used correctly it can improve governance and open new channels for the citizens for the public sphere and create a positive impact on the community.

The open-source technology addresses civic needs while transforming civic life through civic engagements, encouraging the openings and government data.

With passing days people do not believe in government instead consider it as bureaucratic and corrupt that creates hurdles on the way of progress.  To address the civic needs and enhance civic lifestyle the collaboration between citizen tech developers and domain experts is essential as it will reframe the relationship between local government and citizens.

The 6-month long program based in Peshawar is the initiative of The KP Government Innovation Fellowship Program where talented developers and designers collaborate to building digital spaces. Inspire citizen’s engagement and improve government process. These digital services can help solve problems in a variety of public domains, such as economic development, healthcare, open data, citizen engagement, transportation, education, etc.

 Eligibility criteria for the Fellowship Program are as follows:

  1. The candidate should have a minimum of 16 years of education and must have graduated from an HEC recognized university having expertise in one of the following categories: front-end development, back-end development, mobile application development, desktop application development, graphic designing, content writing, data sciences, software quality assurance, networking & security.
  2. The candidate should have at least 1 year (post-graduation) experience in the relevant field.
  3. The candidate should be able to spare 40 hours/week for 6 months after induction.
  4. The candidate should be able to be present in person (9 AM-5 PM) at Durshal Peshawar. This position is not open to remote work.

The benefits that these fellows are getting includes a monthly stipend of Rs. 30,000/- for six months, professional mentorship, free workspace, leadership development training and above all a chance to work with a Government department to bring about a change in the digital landscape of KP.
