March 8 marks the celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women.
Women in the world take on many roles throughout their lives, but perhaps the most important and lifelong one is that of being a mother. One of the female entrepreneurs who shares her journey with IDG Pakistan is Siha Waris, Chief Executive Officer and Founder at Rise Mom. Rise Mom is an initiative that is empowering working women by establishing Rise Mom certified day centers in every city of Pakistan, so mothers get to be with their child even when they are at work.
Giving a word of advice to the women out there who want to do something for themselves, Siha said
“There is general perception that women often don’t get the opportunity, which often holds women back. However, under the same circumstances many women stepped out and did marvelous! Just take the step, leave your comfort zone, be courageous and you can to do wonders!”
Rise Mom was incubated at the National Incubation Center, Islamabad.
As per Rise Mom’s dictum, every mother needs the satisfaction of her child’s wellbeing but this is a challenge for working women, particularly in Pakistan, where daycare facilities are not as common yet. Due to this reason, 60% of women leave their professional careers when they have kids.
It is to address these fears, concerns and ensuring peace of mind for Mothers that Rise Mom is stepping in. Rise Mom acts as a mediator between mothers and day care centers and is working tirelessly to ensure the empowerment of working mothers.
Rise Mom aims to enable working mothers to stay connected with their children, monitor their meal and nap times, and keep updated with their children’s wellbeing at the day care center through regular status updates, pictures and live video feature so mother’s have satisfaction that their kid is properly taken care of and ultimately they can focus on work as they have peace of mind.
