Gujranwala 2.0 Hosts FreeCon with e-Rozgaar Program
Pakistan is ranked number four in the world as the hub for freelancers, and to formalize this industry, the Punjab IT Board has been working tirelessly through their TechHub Connect program followed by the Chief Minister’s E-Rozgaar Program, which is responsible for establishing centers all across Punjab.
Gujranwala 2.0 and e-Rozgaar, freelancer’s initiative under the Punjab IT Board’s agenda, organized the first ever FREECON; Freelancing Convention in Gujranwala on 15th March 2018 at University of Punjab, Gujranwala Campus.
The event was attended by freelancers from different areas of Punjab as well as some relevant stakeholders in the freelancing industry. The Convention was opened by Mehak Jamal, Senior Program Manager for e-Rozgaar, followed by a keynote address by the newly appointed Director Entrepreneurship at PITB, Atif Mumtaz. He addressed the audience on their mission to hold such conferences in all districts of Punjab. Atif Mumtaz has previously led CrossOver, global freelancing platform.
Partners for the event included Careem and OneStep. The event highlighted areas most relevant to freelancers including opportunities and tools available on Fiverr, Upwork, CrossOver, Facebook and more. Some of the key highlights from each of the talks at the Freecon included:
A Talk on Upwork by Sheikh Saifur Rehman, Creative Design Trainer at Government College Women University Sialkot, who talked about how only effective communication with customers can help you earn millions instead of thousands.
Engr. Inaamul Haq Mansoor our Non-Technical Trainer at University of Agriculture Faisalabad who is also the CEO and Founder of Tech Mentions gave his insights on E-Com Business Possibilities in Pakistan using Facebook ads.
Zain Tanveer, Business Development Executive at TechHub Connect, Zain Tanveer spoke about the benefits of becoming a professional freelancer. He also shared important tips for different freelancing platforms like Upwork and Fiverr.
Cross Over Pakistan opportunities were shared by Abdul Rehman whereas, Wasim Ashraf, Non-Technical Trainer at UET Lahore and founder of Xperts Agency discussed how a newbie can run a successful E-Commerce business.
Hassan Mirza who is managing the southern belt of the e-Rozgaar training centers in Punjab, gave his insights on mobilizing the youth of Pakistan.
