GSMA Mobile 360 Series MENA

This is the 5th year of the GSMA Mobile 360 – MENA conference, a two-day power packed event featuring keynote and panel discussions, case studies, workshops, and company exhibits that are designed to showcase top concerns of the mobile operators and ecosystem players from across the Middle East and North African region. The event took place in Dubai, UAE between the 9-10th of October at the World Trade Centre, alongside GITEX Technology Week.

Event partners include Host partners Etisalat, Global Industry Supporter Huawei, Gold Sponsor Bank of Khartoum and Ericsson, as well as Mobile World Capital Barcelona as their Global Partner.

One of the key sessions that took place as part of the Mobile 360 event was the panel discussion with experts from Garanti Bank, JazzCash and Awok. The session ‘Financial Inclusion and E-Commerce’ discussed the status of mobile money and e-commerce services in the MENA region. Hassan Mahbub, Head of Mobile Wallets JazzCash was representing Pakistan on this panel discussion, alongside Bahar Akin, SVP Digital Payments at Garanti Bank and Founder and CEO Awok – Ulugbek Yuldashev.

The first day kicked off with an IoT keynote focusing on Smart Cities and Connected Cars, followed by Policy Keynote; The Case for Dynamic Governance and Regulatory Modernisation. The Inclusion and E-Commerce was also held on Day 1, which concluded with the final session on Mobile for Good in the MENA Region: Disaster Response to Humanitarian Crises.

Day two started with an Ecosystem Keynote: Digital Transformation and Customer Experience, a media keynote on how mobile and social video networks for communication, media consumption and the political change it brings about. On the topic of Cybersecurity, a keynote; Achieving Greater Resilience to Protect Companies and Consumers was delivered. Industrial Wave 4.0 topics including 5G networks, AI and block chain, were all discussed during the event with further sessions on Future-Proofing for 5G and Exploring New Revenue, The Artificial Intelligence Revolution and Digital Identity and The Blockchain.

In attendance were management teams & CXOs of mobile network operators and ecosystem suppliers, regulatory authorities and ministries from across the border, as well as venture capital firms and startups working in the mobile ecosystem.
